چکیده

A novel method for preparing α-norbornene methylene polystyrene macromonomer (NBMPSt) is reported. NBMPSt macromonomer ( Mn = 1.60 × 10 and PDI = 1.26) had glass transition temperature (Tg) of 107 C for polystyrene segment. Since the homopolymerization of NBMPSt macromonomer with number average molecular weight ( Mn ) 1.60 ×10 could not be carried out by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) with Ru catalyst [(Cy3P)2Cl2Ru=CHPh, Cy = cyclohexyl], ring-opening metathesis copolymerization of NBMPSt macromonomer containing norbornene end group and norbornene monomer containing carbazole group (NBCbz) was investigated. A branched random copolymer containing carbazole groups and polystyrene segments, poly (NBMPSt-coNBCbz), was successfully obtained ( Mn = 3.99 × 10 and PDI = 1.30). The molecular weight distributions of NBMPSt macromonomer and branched random poly(NBMPSt-co-NBCbz) are narrow. Branched random poly(NBMPSt-co-NBCbz) exhibited good solubility in a variety of solvents such as methylene chloride, chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, and even in xylene and benzene at room temperature or upon heating to 60 C.

Radical polymerization approach for ring opened oxanorbornene anhydride based macromonomers

In this work, we synthesized end group functionalization of the cis-Norbornene-5-6-endo-dicarboxylic anhydride species via the ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of oxanorbornene derivatives generated a chiseled poly(cis-Norbornene-5-6-endo-Dicarboxylic anhydride) acrylate macromonomer. Further, acrylate oxanorbornene based macromonomer further polymerized via reversible addition fra...

Control of Grafting Density and Distribution in Graft Polymers by Living Ring-Opening Metathesis Copolymerization.

Control over polymer sequence and architecture is crucial to both understanding structure-property relationships and designing functional materials. In pursuit of these goals, we developed a new synthetic approach that enables facile manipulation of the density and distribution of grafts in polymers via living ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP). Discrete endo,exo-norbornenyl dialkyle...

Precise synthesis of poly(macromonomer)s containing sugars by repetitive ring-opening metathesis polymerisation.

Various poly(macromonomer)s containing sugars have been prepared by ROMP of norbornene macromonomers substituted with ROMP block copolymers containing acetal-protected sugars as the side chain, which upon removal of the protecting group affords a novel amphiphilic architecture.

A direct route to cyclic organic nanostructures via ring-expansion metathesis polymerization of a dendronized macromonomer.

Cyclic organic nanostructures were prepared via ring-expansion metathesis polymerization of a dendronized norbornene macromonomer. The strategy provides a direct, efficient route to nanoscale rings in a single operation. AFM imaging confirmed toroidal features having diameters of ca. 35-40 nm.

Synthesis of Acid-Labile PEG and PEG-Doxorubicin-Conjugate Nanoparticles via Brush-First ROMP

A panel of acid-labile bis-norbornene cross-linkers was synthesized and evaluated for the formation of acid-degradable brush-arm star polymers (BASPs) via the brush-first ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) method. An acetal-based cross-linker was identified that, when employed in conjunction with a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) macromonomer, provided highly controlled BASP formation re...
